NEW FACES.....

PRESIDENT JK HAS APPOINTED NEW PERMANENT SECRETARIES


A statement issued by the Chief Secretary of the State House, Mr Phillemon Luhanjo said the changes are a result of the new structure of the government, in which the Ministry of Infrastructure has been divided while some permanent secretaries have retired.

According to the statement, those appointed include Mr Fanuel Mbonde who is the new Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office, State House. Before his new appointment Mr Mbonde was the deputy permanent secretary, Prime Minister’s Office.

Others are Hussein Kattanga who becomes the Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Governments; Mr John Haule becomes Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Mr Herbert Mrango goes to the Ministry of Works and Mr Eric Shitindi becomes the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment.

Prior to the appointments, Mr Kattanga was Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children and Mr Haule was Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs; Mr Mrango served as Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works while Mr Shittindi was Deputy Permanent Secretary, President’s Office, Public Service and Management.

President Kikwete has also transferred Sazi Salula from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to the Vice President’s Office and Ms Maimuna Tarishi from the Prime Minister’s Office to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.

Others are Engineer Omar Chambo who becomes Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport from what used to be the Ministry of Infrastructure; and Ms Kijakazi Mtengwa becomes the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Gender and Children.

The statement signed by Mr Luhanjo said Dr Ladislaus Komba who was Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism will be assigned special duties in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Furthermore the statement said that President Kikwete has transferred Ms Elizabeth Nyambibo to the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs where she becomes deputy permanent secretary filling the vacancy left by Mr Haule. Before the transfer, Ms Nyambibo was the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The statement said that the appointments took immediate effect and that the new PSs will be sworn in today at 9am in the State House in Dar es Salaam.
