Wengi wamekuwa wakilipa bili kubwa za umeme ambazo hata wao wanahisi sio halali ukilinganisha na matumizi yao.
Tatizo
la kuvuja kwa umeme limekuwa kubwa sana,bahati mbaya mafundi wengi
wamekuwa wakilitatua kwa namna ya kuliongeza badala ya kuliondoa. Tatizo
hili limekuwa likitokea sana katika nyumba ambazo zinatumia vifaa vya
pin tatu yaani live,neutral and earth mfano fridge,pasi,jiko la umeme,
n.k.Vile vile linatokea sana katika nyumba yenye wiring iliyo choka au
kwenye nyumba ambayo wire zake zimechubuka.
Kwa kawaida kuna vifaa maalumu vya kutambua uvujaji wa umeme katika nyumba kama vile EARTH LEAKAGE CIRCUIT BREAKER ingawaje nyingi zilizo fungwa majumbani siku hizi ni FEKI hivyo zinashindwa kujizima pale umeme unapo vuja.
Mara
nyingi Leakage ya umeme hua inapimwa kwa kuangalia resistance between
LIVE wire and EARTH wire na kiutaratibu laizima resistance ya wire hizi
mbili izidi 1000000 ohms =1mega ohms Kama endapo itatokea ikwa chini ya
hapo moja kwa moja tunaamini kuna gharama za ziada zitakazo ongezeka
kutokana na resistance hiyo kushuka chini ya kiwango hicho. Mfano fundi
umeme amepima continuity na kukuta resistance between LIVE wire and
EARTH wire is 1000 ohms = 1k ohms

NOTE:-Umeme unaoingizwa majumbani wa single phase ni 220 Voltage.
Hivyo Current(I) =V/R = Current (I) =220/1000=0.22Ampere
(iii) Tafuta power Power (P) =Voltage(V) X Current(I) Hivyo P=VxI P=220 x 0.22= 48.4 watt
P=48.4watt.
NOTE:-Gharama za Unit moja ya tanesco ambayo ni sawa na 1000watt ni 306.52Tsh,hii ni kwa wale wanao tumia zaidi ya Unit 50Kwh.

Domestic Low Usage Tariff (D1)
This
category covers domestic customers who on average have a consumption
pattern for 50 kWh. The 50 kwh are subsidized by company are not
subjected to service charge. Under the category any unit exceeding 50
kwh is charged a higher rate up to 306.52Tsh. In this tariff category,
power is supplied at a low voltage, single phase (230 V).
General usage Tariff (T1)
This segment is applicable for customers who use power for general
purposes: including residential, small commercial and light industrial
use, public lighting, and billboards. In this category the average
consumption is more 306.52Tsh. per meter reading period. Power is given
at low voltage single phase (230), as well as three phase (400V).
Low voltage maximum Demand (MD) usage tariff (T2)
Applicable
for general use where power is metered at 400V and average consumption
is more than 7,500kWh per meter reading period and demand doesn’t exceed
500KVA per meter reading period. High Voltage Maximum Demand (MD) usage
tariff (T3).
Applicable for general use where power is metered at 11KV and above.

hapo juu (gharama hii ni ya umeme unao vuja bila kujali umetumia umeme
au hujatumia) ni kama ifuatavyo:-
Cost = (Consumption watt /1000) x Time x 306.52 Kwh Cost =
(48.4w/1000w) x 720 hrs x 306.52Kwh=10,681.6Tsh
Cost consumption is 10,681.6Tsh.
Hivyo
kama resistance between LIVE wire and EARTH wire is 1000 ohms you have
fixed added cost of 10,681.6Tsh on your normal consumption cost. Hii
inamaanisha kama matumizi yako ya ndani ya halali unayotumia mfano ni ya
52000 itakubidiulipe 62681.6Tsh badala ya 52000.
NOTE:-
The
added cost may either decrease or increase due to the either increase
or decrease of the resistance respectively between live wire and earth
wire
This means the high the resistance between the LIVE wire and
the EARTH wire=low added cost and the low resistance between the LIVE
wire and the EARTH wire=high added cost
IT SUGGESTED THAT THE RESISTANCE BETWEEN THE LIVE WIRE AND THE EARTH WIRE SHOULD BE MORE THAN 1000000 ohms = 1mega ohms
THIS IS APPLIED THE SAME TO THE RESISTANCE BETWEEN LIVE WIRE AND NEUTRAL WIRE DURING “off state” OF THE CIRCUIT.
